Welcome to LaCasa-LaPaz, located on a cobblestone road in the hills above La Paz in a private gated community where  you will enjoy great ocean views, splendid sunsets, cozy rooms, and great hospitality.  We are about 10 minutes from the nearest beach.  Our goal is to make your stay in La Paz a memorable one. Our invitation is extended only to OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS! (SEE OUR FAQ PAGE FOR DONATION INFO; YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION while in La Paz, unless you have specific arrangements with us.) See Mexidonia page for directions to Kingdom Hall.

YES, IT IS SAFE!  In the April, 2009  Wt., an invitation was extended to those in a position to move where there was a greater need here in Mexico.  That invitation still stands!  Despite the increase in drug-related violence, a close look at Mexico shows the  country is actually much safer than U.S. news portrays.  As a whole, Mexico’s murder rate is surprisingly low: 14 homicides for every 100,000 inhabitants.   Compare  Washington, D.C.’s 24 persons per 100.000, etc.  Check the city’s crime stats nearest to you and you may be surprised that where you live is actually “more dangerous” than where you plan to visit in Mexico. Another evidence that Mexico is safer than you have heard is this: Mexico banks receive the largest % of direct deposit pensions in the world!  La Paz is considered especially safe, as we are 1000 miles from any border town.  In 2009, there were only 3 homicides here.  Our population is 350,000.  PLEASE don’t let the U.S. news scare you away.  When the friends get here, experience life here for themselves, they are amazed at how different and how much safer it is than they were led to believe in the U.S.  Of course, the normal precautions must be observed here as in any other place in the world.

La Paz is a beautiful city located on the eastern side of the Sea of Cortez.  It is a clean and safe city that has so far continued to refuse to cave in to tourism.  As the name implies, it endeavors to be a “city of peace.”  Every evening, and especially on the weekends families and locals of all ages stroll up and down the Malecón (a 5 mile boardwalk) located right on the Bay of La Paz.  Lapped by the turquoise blue sea, the city’s Malecón makes for splendid sunset walks.

The La Paz area offers excellent snorkeling, world class scuba diving, whale watching, kayaking, beach combing, and much more.  The fishing is legendary. Starting in late May and through the summer, marlin, tuna, dorado, yellowtail, and many more species of fish inhabit the Sea of Cortez.  Jacques Cousteau was so impressed with the Sea of Cortez he called it “the biggest aquarium in the world.” It is the only place on earth he visited twice during his voyages on the Calypso. Don’t miss the chance to take a boat trip to La Isla De Espíritu Santos. Many people choose to swim with the local sea lions.  Others who are brave at heart choose to swim with the giant whale sharks that come into the Bay in the winter and leave in the spring.  (See Awake, 12-09, p. 15-17) Don’t worry.  They are vegetarian.   Golf?  La Paz has existed for 475 years without a golf course…”and it was well worth the wait…” boasts Paraiso Del Mar Golf Resort.  (See “Links” page for more details)
